Miller assumes director of operations position at Promise CHC


SIOUX CENTER – Brenda Miller worked with families who struggled to obtain the medical and mental health care that they need in her previous job.

Therefore, she was interested in going into a field where she could help ensure that people receive accessible and high-quality care.

Miller found that opportunity at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center and has assumed the position of director of operations at the health center.

“I was interested because Promise provides access to essential services for uninsured and under-insured families,” she said. “This position will allow me to use my passion, education and background to ensure that families have a place to go that provides the quality care they need.”

Miller grew up in Ponca, NE, where she graduated from high school. Her career background includes working in insurance, business management and personnel management and owning and operating family businesses. She also served six years in the Army Reserves, including active duty overseas during Operation Desert Storm.

She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City in 2006. She earned a master’s degree in management, with an emphasis in human resources management and health-care administration, from Briar Cliff in 2014.

Miller served for the past 10 years as a housing analyst for the Sioux City Housing Authority prior to taking on her new role at Promise.

“I am very excited to be a part of Promise,” she said. “Promise is an organization that provides a multitude of services – with great staff who truly care about their patients. The staff are always looking for ways to improve the processes and provide the best possible services to each and every patient.”

Brenda Miller and her husband, Jeff, live in Hinton. She has two daughters, Mariah, 22, and Kourtney, 20, and a stepson, Casey, and his wife, Heidi, who have a son, Slevin. She enjoys spending time with family, reading and raising poultry. Miller’s volunteer work includes serving as the board vice president for Mid-Step Services in Sioux City, a nonprofit organization that serves disabled and medically fragile people; chairwoman for the Plymouth County Veteran Affairs Commission; and poultry superintendent for the Plymouth County Fair.
