Promise CHC plans 'An Evening of Promise' for Thursday, Nov. 2

SIOUX CENTER – Promise Community Health Center will take a walk down memory lane for its ninth annual “An Evening of Promise” Celebration and Fundraiser.

Promise Community Health Center is planning its
ninth annual "An Evening of Promise" Celebration and
Fundraiser for Thursday, Nov. 2, at Terrace View
Event Center in Sioux Center. Doors will open at
5:30 p.m., and the event will start at 6 p.m.
The annual celebration is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Terrace View Event Center in Sioux Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets will be on sale through Wednesday, Oct. 25.

“Everyone who attends will have a wonderful time,” said Derrick Vander Waal, public relations officer for Promise Community Health Center. “We will reflect on and celebrate the continued growth in Promise’s services to the community and will look ahead to where we’re going in the future. At the same time, the event is an opportunity for people to get away for an evening of wonderful food, fun and fellowship.”

Central Catering will serve a fabulous dinner for
Promise Community Health Center's ninth annual
"An Evening of Promise" Celebration and Fundraiser
on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Terrace View Event Center
in Sioux Center. The event serves as Promise's
primary fundraiser every year.
The evening will feature a fabulous dinner of pork loin and chicken breast served by Central Catering of Hawarden, live jazz music during the social and dinner hour by The Chase, presentation of the sixth annual Addink Community Service Award to Barbara Top of Sioux Center and a silent auction to support the mission of Promise in the community.

Promise also will take the opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Nancy Dykstra, the health center’s founding executive director, before she moves into retirement. Past providers and board members will be among the honorary people in attendance.

“Promise has experienced a massive expansion in staff, services and facilities since opening nearly a decade ago,” Vander Waal said. “Many people have played an influential role in making Promise what it is today – a comprehensive health center committed to reaching out to all people and building a healthier community. We want to celebrate that.”
The Chase will perform jazz tunes at Promise CHC's
ninth annual "An Evening of Promise" Celebration
and Fundraiser on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Terrace
View Event Center in Sioux Center.

The Chase, formerly known as AK-Squared, consists of Ariel Gomez on electric guitar, Mark Brauning on drums, Daniel Amin on piano and Michel Gomez on bass – all students or alumni of Dordt College in Sioux Center. All of the members have been playing for many years in various bands before coming together to form this band.

Michel Gomez said The Chase gets its name from continually chasing after new styles of music and different sources of inspiration.

“We are very excited to play at this event and look forward to being able to play for a new audience,” Gomez said. “We have been experimenting with a few different jazz genres and look forward to perform it.
Natural Food Holdings of Sioux Center again will serve as the primary corporate sponsor for “An Evening of Promise.” Other area businesses and individuals also are supporting the annual event as sponsors, including Premier Bank, Peoples Bank, Van Engelenhoven Agency, and Darin and Linda Dykstra.

“Our annual event offers people an occasion to support the work of Promise in the community,” Vander Waal said. “We are dedicated to providing accessible and affordable health care to everyone who needs it – no matter their income, background or life situation. We desire to reach underserved people and help them overcome whatever barriers they may face to health care that they need and deserve.”
