'The Amazing Arthur' to highlight Promise's 'An Evening of Promise'


SIOUX CENTER – Come join us for an evening of fantastic food, amazing entertainment and enjoyable fellowship.

Promise Community Health Center is planning its 10th annual “An Evening of Promise” Celebration and Fundraiser” for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Terrace View Event Center in Sioux Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a social time.

“This is an opportunity for you to get away and enjoy an evening of laughter and good times,” said Derrick Vander Waal, public relations officer for Promise. “Everyone who attends will have a wonderful time. You will leave refreshed, delighted and inspired.”

Arthur Fratelli, the featured entertainment for the evening, will captivate the crowd with his hilarious comedy mentalism show. Known as “The Amazing Arthur,” he travels the country to perform about 350 shows per year for events and venues of all types. He has entertained in about 30 states over the past two decades.

Fratelli has a favorite word to describe his show: “Amazingness.”

“I make predictions. I read body language. I try to incorporate a bit of improvisation. The show is ultra-interactive and quite funny. I also do a stunt with a pretty fantastic stunt with a lollipop – like I said, amazingness,” he said. “I’m constantly trying new routines, working a new angle, striving for something original – something people will scratch their heads over.”

The Triple Box of rural Orange City will cater a fine dining meal featuring Ritz chicken and seasoned pork loin.

The event, which serves as Promise’s primary fundraiser every year, also will include a silent auction to support the mission of Promise in the community. A wide array of great products and services will be auction off.

As new nurse at Promise, Clazina Blom appreciates its holistic care

SIOUX CENTER – Ever since Clazina Blom played “doctor and nurse” as a young girl, caring for others has been an “innate part” of who she is. She has made it her career. Clazina Blom likes the holistic approach to health care that she has seen at Promise Community Health Center since assuming her role as a new clinic nurse. Clazina now is caring for others as a new clinic nurse at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center. “ Helping others, giving support and compassion, and educating about health are important to me,” she said. Clazina grew up in rural Doon on her family’s rural dairy farm. SIOUX CENTER – Jess Koedam appreciates all of the different ways that she has been able to help people as a registered nurse in her career. Jess Koedam brings a variety of nursing experiences to her new role as a clinic nurse at Promise Community Health in Sioux Center.
